Did you know that there are close to 1,000 remedies in our literature with some reference to heart related issues? Join Dr. John Millar on a journey through the cardiovascular system and a dynamic discussion of the conditions and remedies that can help your patients with these issues.
This course is both timely and necessary as homeopaths everywhere navigate increases in the number of cardiovascular cases. Many cardiac conditions will be examined, from murmurs to myocarditis to coronary artery disease. Dr. Millar will share more than 35 years’ worth of knowledge and insights and will present many successful cases to illustrate his lectures.
Homeopaths at all levels of experience will benefit from this course. Dr. Millar goes beyond classical case analysis by showing us the psychodynamics of each case. He discusses the interplay between the body, mind, and soul, showing us how the pathology affects the mind as readily as the mind affects the pathology. He also delves into concepts relating to miasms, remedy family groupings, and the smaller (and therefore missed) remedies. For instance, did you know that Saccharum is helpful in angina cases with a modality of “better sitting up” and a history of strep throat? Or that Curare has proven helpful in post-Covid myocarditis that looks similar to Nux-vomica?
Dr. Millar brings the materia medica alive with his case examples and his descriptions of the remedies. But the course would not be complete without his additional guidance on the topics of posology and dosage, the repertory and rubric choices, materia medica and differential diagnoses, and cure vs. palliation.
During this six-week course, we will cover the following:
* Myocarditis, Continued from Part 1: We’ll continue our examination of both acute and chronic Myocarditis, with case examples and differential materia medica. Remedies that will be covered include (but are not limited to): Galanthus, Asarum, Vipera, Veratrum viride, Morgan pure, and more.
* Congestive Heart Failure: In this new topic for Part 2, there will be an examination of cases and materia medica for the various stages and presentations of this insidious illness. Here again Cratageus oxycantha comes to the forefront, as do Strophanthus and Digitalis, and there is also a place for remedies like Aconite and Adrenaline.
* Angina Pectoris: We will discuss the clinical materia medica for the management of this symptomology and the underlying pathologies behind it. Remedies that will be covered include: Aurum muriaticum, Amyl nitrate, Glonoinum, Oxalic acid and Tabaccum.
* Myocardial Infarction and Coronary Artery Disease: We’ll take a look at life-saving remedies as will as those indicated for convalescence after the incident. Latrodectus macrons will be considered, however there are over 100 remedies that may be indicated.
* Heart and Mind: We’ll consider a focus on emotions, especially anxiety, on heart health. We’ll take a look through the materia medica, and see case examples of the connection between emotional states and cardiovascular health. Examples include Nitric acid in cases of anxiety in congestive heart failure, or Digitalis for cases of anxiety in heart complaints that are aggravated by motion.
* Thrombosis, Embolism and Apoplexy: This is an area where homeopathy excels in helping patients recover from stroke. Many of the serpent remedies are of great service, and not always Lachesis and Naja
Remedies of particular interest include: Cratageus, Digitalis, Iberis, Spigelia, Adonis Naja, Veratrum veride, Cactus, Convallaria, Strophanthus, Aurum, Spongia, and many more.

ABOUT John Millar
Dr. John Millar, BSc, ND, DHANP, CCH, HOM received his Bachelors Degree in Experimental Psychology from Trent University in 1978. After a few years as a teacher and musician, he attended one year of pre-med studies at the University of Waterloo, and then on to the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, where he graduated in 1988 with a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree. From that point forward, he has studied homoeopathy throughout the world with the likes of André Saine, Jeremy Sherr, Vassilis Ghegas, Rajan Sankaran, and others, receiving his DHANP in 1999.
