Join Dr. Millar on a journey through the human mind, focusing on memory and cognitive function. In this course, we will explore a variety of neurocognitive disorders and their homeopathic treatment.
A full century has passed since Alzheimer's disease was first described by a small group of psychiatrists. Today, this and other dementias belong to the most disabling and burdensome health conditions worldwide. It is estimated that 24.3 million people have dementia today, with 4.6 million new cases diagnosed each year. We shall review both the ICD-10 and the DSM-V classification systems as we look at these neurocognitive conditions.
Practitioners recognize the common symptoms in these cases: memory problems, difficulty with focus and concentration, learning disabilities, and behavioral changes. This course will deepen your understanding by providing an overview of neurocognitive disorders, an understanding of the various types of dementia, and information on the current state of mainstream and alternative treatment.
As always, Dr. Millar will utilize a combination of case examples, remedy profiles, and useful rubrics to broaden understanding and offer practical, accessible tools. In addition, the course will include a discussion of lifestyle considerations and touch on the topic of adjunct therapies including sleep and the brain, supplements and botanicals, nutrition, and the role of medications - particularly hallucinogens and other cholinesterase inhibitors.
Case examples will highlight a range of pathologies, from simple absent- mindedness and forgetfulness to more severe neurologic disease like Alzheimer’s and Cruetzfeldt-Jakob (CJD) disease. A variety of age groups will be included as well, ranging from childhood and adolescent learning difficulties to senile dementia. In each example, Dr. Millar’s presentation will include an exploration of the rubrics and remedies that have proven helpful in such cases.

ABOUT John Millar
Dr. John Millar, BSc, ND, DHANP, CCH, HOM received his Bachelors Degree in Experimental Psychology from Trent University in 1978. After a few years as a teacher and musician, he attended one year of pre-med studies at the University of Waterloo, and then on to the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, where he graduated in 1988 with a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree. From that point forward, he has studied homoeopathy throughout the world with the likes of André Saine, Jeremy Sherr, Vassilis Ghegas, Rajan Sankaran, and others, receiving his DHANP in 1999.
