For the last 11,700 years, we have been in a relatively stable period, known as the Holocene Epoch. Human civilization has evolved and flourished throughout. Now, after millennia of human activity, we are rapidly moving into what is known as the Anthropocene Epoch. The Anthropocene Epoch is an unofficial unit of geologic time that describes this new era in the Earth's history. It marks the time where human activity, both socio-economic and political, has begun to have a significant impact on the planet's environmental health and ecosystems.

We are at a transition point: ending one epoch and beginning the next. The evidence is everywhere: the World Economic Forum, the International Monetary Fund, the World Health Organization all point to a coming ‘New World Order’. The perceived threats of global warming, food insecurity, and environmental destruction can create tremendous anxieties. Questions like ‘Where are we as a species?’; ‘What will our future look like?’; even ‘Will we survive?’ are increasingly present in the consulting room.

We invite you to join Dr. John Millar for an in-depth study of remedies indicated for the treatment and management of patients affected by such fears, anxieties, and uncertainties.

During this six-week course, Dr. Millar will guide our exploration of remedies that address our relationship to the natural world. The love of nature and countryside; love of mountains, forests, and fields; love of oceans, lakes, and rivers: all are represented in our Repertories and Materia medica.

Among the remedies to be explored is LSD, a remedy we find connected to many of these ‘natural world’ rubrics. Is it by chance that Bob Dylan’s original protest song, The Times They Are A Changin’, was written at the same time that the “Hippie Movement “of the 1960’s was exploring LSD? 

Join us as we expand on the central themes of this important remedy for contemporary practice. Another remedy we will study is prepared from bamboo, Bambusa. The Bambusa state, often encountered in new mothers, may express itself in patients who present with anxiety around future happenings.

We will investigate the use of Gingko biloba as well, exploring a case of a father who has become avaricious in response to anxiety about his future and the future well-being of his family.

Is it sheer coincidence that the milk of the African elephant (Lac loxodonta) is connected to the theme of starving children? Or that the remedy Oxygen is indicated for fear of pollution? These are just a few examples of what will be discussed in this new and exciting 6-week course by WHN favorite, Dr. John Millar.

There are some 200 remedies in our Materia Medica indicated for worries and fears about the future. There are numerous rubrics and remedies concerned with the future, social-economics, geopolitics, environmental pollution, and other present-day concerns, all of which are creating angst for many patients. As always, the basis for those fears and anxiety vary from case to case and remedy to remedy, but with the material we will explore in this course, we can expect to deepen our understanding and ability to help these patients.
