HOMEOPATHY TODAY
Reviewed by Maria Theresa Bohle

With this book, Eileen Nauman bridges the gap between good emergency pre-care and the homeopathic remedies used for emergency conditions. ‘Help! And Homeopathy’ draws on Nauman's experiences both as an EMT and a homeopath.

The book gives sound information that could conceivably save a life between the time an accident happens and the time emergency personnel arrive. Although regional protocols may differ slightly, Nauman and Derin-Kellog put into layman's language the newest emergency medical techniques used for common accidents and emergencies, with a short list of the most frequently needed remedies in these situations.

This book is written so the average person faced with a crisis can comprehend and execute the proper protocols easily and accurately.

As a practicing Emergency Medical Technician and as a homeopath, I have found this book both accurate and useful. It can take the guesswork out of a stressful situation and instruct a "good Samaritan" to use existing time efficiently in a medical crisis.

The "Emergency" section is alphabetized for quick access. The "Homeopathic Materia Medica" section pares down some of our more complete materia medicas and emphasizes the "emergency" aspects of the remedies, including clinical indications, mental states, symptomatology, individual remedy characteristics and important modalities.

Detailed explanations on remedy selection, how to use the remedies, and even dosing schedules are included-a nice touch often not found in homeopathic literature. The remedies recommended are available in a kit from Hahnemann Pharmacy (Nothing can be more disheartening than identifying a needed remedy and not having it.)

The quality of the book speaks for itself in the manner in which the author has chosen to organize and lay out the contents. The book is extremely easy to use. Even if you have a familiarity with emergency medicine, and know your homeopathy, you will still find it convenient to have this information in one place.

I have already found this book useful in the few weeks I have had it. ‘Help! And Homeopathy’ is affordably priced and high on my list of future gifts for friends and family.

Maria Theresa Bohle, a graduate of the British Institute of Homeopathy, works ambulance duty as an EMT several times a week.

She writes: After a stressful political career (the Mayor of Egg Harbor Township, NJ and Atlantic County Freeholder), I contracted Lyme disease that rapidly went into late Lyme. I felt I was dying and the antibiotics were no longer helping. I 'discovered' homeopathy, and cleared up the Lyme disease. I have been a 'homeopathic fanatic' ever since, and love every minute of it!

Heritage

An outline of conditions including a definition, an emergency medical response, and possible remedies to use. The book has an excellent index.

Julian Winston writes:
Most books say, "This condition is an emergency. Get the person to the hospital." This book simply adds, "and give them this remedy on the way."

Written by two people who are both familiar with homeopathy and have worked as Emergency Medical Technicians, the information is well presented and very valuable.
